On Sunday it was Raquel and Shane's turn. A referral from a lovely couple Sean and Jessica from a couple of years ago. It was an early start as it was a daytime wedding and it was day one for Tara, my new assistant. Whenever I need a second shooter I use Bruce, who has always shot for me. But lately I have been wanting to try some new things during the wedding so an assistant is what I needed. Tara was lucky in that she contacted me at the very moment I had made up my mind to hire someone.

So thank you to Raquel and Shane for a fun day and letting her train on your wedding and for feeding her as well. It was a beautiful day and Raquel had a stunning highly detailed ivory dress. Shane, the bloke by the rolla door, was in for a treat. Now, as a photographer who is a fan of the "urban" look, amoung others, I like the look of the rolla door in these photos. Many may have questioned why I might use such things but I love the texture and lighting that it creates, especially for B&W.

Kristine and Ted E-session was this last Saturday. They will be getting married next month in North Sydney, followed by photos at the Rocks and reception at Villa Rosa. We spent a couple of hours checking out photo locations and taking some pictures for a signing print for the wedding.

I always like to go to the locations with the clients where possible. It helps them get comfortable and also get a good understanding of where we will shoot, the types of photos and how it all fits into the timing of the day.

Let the season begin. The winter of album building is over and the summer of shooting begins. Expect weekly efforts on the blog for the next few months.

The first wedding of the season was Kelly and Semisi. A lovely Tongan couple who had their wedding at a newish golf club out west called Twin Creeks. A nice spot. What I like most about September weddings (April is the same) is that it is generally warm yet we get to use the best of the light.

That was certainly the case this weekend. After hanging out with them its not hard to see why Tonga has gone so well in the RWC. I hope all my weddings are like this this year.
